Whelp, it’s been a crazy month or two.
I think I mentioned I got Covid about three months ago, but then late last month I got that nasty flu/corona virus/sickness from hell that everyone is taking turns with at the moment. It was brutal! I had a fever for six days in a row. Can’t remember ever being that sick before, except for maybe when I got the Russian flu at age 8. For a minute, I thought I might have to go to the hospital.
Feeling a lot better now. But, in the middle of that, I had to move!
I found a cute little garden apartment with a lovely patio in Puertas del Sol, a nice neighborhood just west of El Centro, the heart of Cuenca. It also has two bedrooms and two baths, so a bit of an upgrade from my little one-bedroom.
BUT … the last tenant smoked in the master bedroom, and despite doing everything I can think of to make that smell go away, it’s not happening. Fortunately, after talking to the landlord–who is the nicest man on earth–he suggested that I instead rent his sister’s apartment. He said he’d just transfer the deposit over to her, and that the rent would be the same.
It’s a one bedroom, but it is a new building, and the apartment has never been lived in before. Everything is new and modern, with brand new appliances; but the best part is the patio. Omg, it’s so big you could play soccer on it! I can’t wait to show it to y’all. Move-in day is Dec. 27, and that will make two moves in one month. Oy.
It’s in MIsicata, which is just a 6-minute taxi ride to Piedra de Agua, my favorite hot springs. And, I’m allowed to have a pet, if I want to.
I’m so excited about living there! Here’s a short video clip as they are getting everything ready for me. More pics and videos to come! And Merry Christmas!
Congratulations! The apartment looks awesome and I see what you mean alot the patio! Fantastic! Merry Christmas!!!
