Tranquillo Day

Knowing I had a full travel day ahead, I opted to spend yesterday at the pool and managed a little sunburn and a lot of relaxation. US culture has me so wound up though that I think it’s going to take a LONG time to get truly relaxed.

My hosts invited me out to dinner last night. They eat late, because their salon doesn’t close until 8 p.m., so we arrived around 9, and the place was full. It’s like an indoor food truck food court. Individual trucks are parked in a circle, with tables and a bar in the center, and a permanent roof over the whole thing. A brilliant idea! We met some of my hosts’ friends there, where we talked and laughed, drank margaritas, ate delicious homemade food, and had a great time.

But now I’m sitting at Gate 20 at the San Jose airport, waiting for my flight to Bogota. It’s another long travel day: Bogota, Quito and then Cuenca, and I have to change planes both times and also pick up my luggage in Quito and then check it again for Cuenca.
