So somehow, overnight, I became a rental agent.
The owner decided she wanted to post the ad on GringoPost too. GringoPost.com is a very popular website used by Expats and Locals here. It’s very much like Craigslist, but less sketchy.
I posted an ad there two days ago for $7, and since have been flooded with requests to rent her place.
Then I realized I needed to know about Ecuadorian rental law, so the owner hooked me up with a local agent who gave me the skinny, and also some forms to start me out.
The commission on renting her place to someone on a 3-month lease would be $75. So, if I had a bunch of these, I could make some pretty good money.
Meanwhile, we have not had a single hit on Airbnb with the exact same ad and pictures. Curious.
I’m meeting two people at the property in about 2 hours, so we’ll see how it goes!
