I had the best day!

I had an interview this morning for a transcription job. It’s a US company, but the gal doing the hiring lives here, and she posted the job on GringoPost, which all the expats here use.

I was late for the interview, which I hate! My taxi driver went to the wrong side of my building, and I had to call him and then ask Miriam–one of my favorite employees here–to tell him to please come to the entrance on the other side, but several minutes were lost in this process. And then, as we were on our way to El Centro–the Historic District, where the cafe for the interview was–there was a university protest going on, and we had to redirect! So I was like 12 minutes late! Argh! After 12 years working in transportation, being on time is just ingrained in my brain.

The interview was awesome. It was like a flashback to the 80s. We met at 10:30 in Cafe del Parque, right next to a very popular park in Cuenca, the Parque Calderón. It was super low key–she was wearing a T-shirt! And she was so nice and fun to chat with. She and I both used to live in Washington, so we chatted about that for a bit, and then we chatted a bit about the job, and then we also chatted some about the resident Visa application, and all over breakfast, which she paid for!

This is how every interview on Earth should be.  🙂

I think it went well, and I will have a follow-up Zoom with the head of the company soon, and will hopefully get the job. Send good juju!

After breakfast, I hailed a taxi, and it was a bit of wait as it always is when I’m in El Centro. There’s just always so much going on, and so much traffic. My taxi driver finally arrived; he was playing great music, and his car was very clean, and so off we went to Piedra de Agua, a natural hot springs located just 10 minutes from my house.

On the ride there, we passed this cute couple riding a motorcycle with their dog.

See him looking over the driver’s right shoulder?

So many dogs on the street up in the hills.

Here’s a shepherd mix waiting for someone to throw him some scraps.

This mural is amazing.

Very nondescript entrance. Not even a sign!

And this is where I spent most of my day, right here in this hot pool.

It’s the hottest pool I could find, naturally. But it still wasn’t hot enough. I was told they would turn up the heat if you asked, and they did!

The larger, lukewarm pool was green. I hope that’s just minerals.

I am so white that I’m nearly the color of that umbrella on the left. I got fried though, and am now beet red.
The view over the cold pool.

A blue margarita to top off the day.

And finally, home on the patio, blogging.  🙂
